It was the year 1962 and Barbie was finally getting her very own Dream House, years before women were allowed to own their own homes. The imaginative play the Dreamhouse has inspired has led to countless houses for barbie and her friends, special projects, dolls, and even a cartoon tv series.
This year, to mark the 60th anniversary of this legendary doll house, Mattel has partenered up with Habitat for Humanity International and will undertake 60 projects and activations, including new construction, home preservation, and neighborhood revitalization, for families in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing around the world.
Part of this year long partnership, Mattel will help build houses in Canada, Poland, and Brazil. In adition to this, Mattel employees will have the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) on builds throughout 2022, including a new home that will be built in Los Angeles near Mattel’s global headquarters.
This year's campaign will be named Barbie Dreamhouse: 60 Years of Giving Dreams a Home and it will celebrate unique anniversary activations to come throughout the year.
